The Woodland Kitchen has national WOW! Factor in 2011 Great Taste Award

A small Warwickshire-based food producer, The Woodland Kitchen, has won a prestigious national accolade…for its hot smoked salmon.

The Woodland Kitchen had to see off tough competition to take the coveted 2011 two-star Gold Great Taste Award.

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the 2011 Great Taste Awards, attracted 7481 entries from 1600 companies. It took 350 experts 34 days to blind taste all the entries and decide which entries would achieve the coveted one, two and three star gold awards.

Chef and owner, Mark Hayden, says the Great Taste Award is national recognition for The Woodland Kitchen which has been in operation for five years.

Mark continues: “Winning two Gold stars for our smoked salmon” is a fabulous achievement. We’ve been producing our hot smoked salmon for a wide range of clients for private and corporate functions including Silverstone Grand Prix and everywhere we go, the reaction is hugely encouraging.

“We always knew we had a winner, a product with the WOW factor, but this acclaimed award is a vote of confidence not only for our hot smoked salmon but the entire business”.

Our hot smoked salmon is produced using only quality ingredients with no artificial additives or preservatives. The Woodland Kitchen also supplies Asian Pork tenderloin cured with lemon grass, ginger, Szechwan pepper and soy and also produces other tantalising products such as smoked Gressingham duck breast, dry cured pancetta style bacon and delivers countrywide. Bob Farrand, Chairman for The Great Taste Awards, said: “Winning Gold in the country’s largest and most respected independent food accreditation scheme is a massive pat on the back for any producer -independent proof their products are of the highest quality.

“We provide constructive feedback from our expert judging teams and for many, winning 1, 2 or 3-star Gold is exactly what’s needed to help grow their businesses, even during a recession. Every winner should feel very proud that their hard work has been rewarded.”

Mark Hayden adds: “We’ve had a small celebration but because there are orders to fill, we haven’t had much time to pop the champagne corks”. We’re hoping this gold two-star award will mean we’ll be even busier as more people get to hear about the good things we do at our Warwickshire base”.
